Prof. Ara Babloyan, M.D., Ph.D.

Scientific Director of ARABKIR Medical Center
Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of Yerevan State Medical University

He is the founder of ARABKIR Medical Center, one of the major pediatric hospitals in Armenia. He is a surgeon and a public health expert.

He is a graduate of the faculty of Pediatrics of Yerevan State Medical Institute in 1971. He continued his postgraduate education in pediatric surgery in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where he got his PhD degree. Thanks to continuous training in renal transplant in Belgium and Switzerland he founded the transplantation program in Armenia.

Prof. Babloyan is the Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of Yerevan State Medical University since 1997.
He was the President of the National Assembly/Parliament of the Republic of Armenia 2017-2019.
From 2007 to 2017 he was the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Armenia on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood.
He was the Minister of Health of Armenia from 1991 to 1997.

Prof. Babloyan has a long-term experience working with World Health Organization (WHO). From 2002 to 2005 Prof. Babloyan was a member of Standing Committee of the Regional Committee for Europe (WHO); from 2006 to 2008 a member of the Technical Steering Committee on Child and Adolescent Health (WHO); from 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the WHO Executive Board.

He is the author of 3 scientific discoveries, 8 monographs and over 232 publications.
